A watershed in Pharmaco's history. The company starts to establish an international presence. Along with Amber International Invest, Pharmaco jointly acquires Bulgarian pharmaceuticals manufacturer Balkanpharma.

Ties between Pharmaco and Delta are severed to preclude a conflict of interest. Delta strengthens its position in Iceland and, with its entry into the German market, begins exporting on a large scale.

Pharmaco establishes Delta hf. to manufacture registered pharmaceutical products. Holds a two-third share in the company until 1992.
1972
Local legislation means exclusive agencies take responsibility for managing Icelandic pharmaceutical supplies. Pharmaco becomes the authorised agent for several well-known manufacturers, including Astra Zeneca and Aventis. Later legislation makes it possible for Icelandic drug manufacturers to register their products as proprietary medicines.

Pharmaco begins production of its own pharmaceuticals, initially for the domestic market.
